Volunteer/Intern Participation Policy

Aloha, We welcome volunteers and interns to participate in our programs to help make them a success. Our volunteers and interns are expected to agree with and up hold our mission and values as set forth in the bylaws. Here are some guidelines set forth to become a volunteer. The following is just the outline. You will be provided with a full set of instructions once you have signed up. Mahalo (Project Hawai'i Summer Camp-Help Homeless Keiki)

1. Volunteers will be required to sign up before the camp begins, attend camp orientation when applicable, and fill out an volunteer form

2. Volunteers that sign up for particular programs, fundraisers or collection will be responsible to follow the guidelines and are expected to follow through with their commitment. Our program runs by  volunteers and expects those who take on a challenge to finish it.

3. Volunteers that are signing up to be a Special Guest will need to be able to provide the supplies they need to implement their program. They are expected to show up with enough time to set up and get ready for the group. We do not have extra volunteers to help with your project. Sometimes, it is best to bring a friend or helper to assure the success of your program.

4. Interns or college students who wish to do their practicum will need to provide all the paperwork in advance, and at the finish to have signed by our directors. Those who will be required to write an essay or a paper about our camp must also submit a copy for our records. Any person who publishes photos, written stories, etc will also need to provide the copy of submission.

5. Photo taking at camp!! This is very vital to overall success of our programs. While we do allow the groups, visitors, donors, etc to photograph the camp and the keiki, we do not allow for these to put on public sites such as facebook, or other social media. We also require that you do NOT take one on one photos or close up of the faces, rather group shots, or in action shots of the project. You may use the photos on YOUR OWN website, groups website, etc., to promote your sponsorship. We do not want these precious children showing up on search engines and being taken advantage of from outside sources.

ALL VOLUNTEERS staying the night at camp will need to complete a fingerprint background check. Not mandatory, but a TB shot is recommended, as well as a tetanus shot booster.
